The number of services provided by the Eye Surgical Hospital in Damascus during the first quarter of this year exceeded 34,000, including more than 13,000 review services for general and specialized clinics, in addition to receiving more than 3,000 emergency cases.
The Director of the General Authority of the hospital, Dr. Rana Omran, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the hospital performed during the same period 2,143 operations, including 8 corneal transplants, in addition to 732 x-rays and 6,761 analyzes, explaining that the hospital provides diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical services to its patients in return for fees that do not exceed 35 percent of the cost. Free of charge for emergency cases.
Dr. Omran indicated that despite the difficulties imposed by the terrorist war on Syria and the impact of this on the work of health institutions, the hospital continued to provide all services to patients without interruption, pointing out that the hospital is the first approved center for training and qualifying resident doctors to examine the Arab Board of eye diseases and surgery, which was done during the past year. Training of 150 male and female doctors from postgraduate students “residents”.
According to Dr. Omran, over the past year, the hospital provided more than 136,000 services, including more than 49,000 visits to general and specialized clinics, 8,367 operations, including 16 corneal transplants, and received more than 13,000 first aid cases, and performed 3115 x-rays and 31,712 analyses.
