The United Syrian Communist Party, in cooperation with the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah), held a mass event on the occasion of the Evacuation Day and the Day of the Palestinian Prisoner, in Arnous Square in Damascus.
The participants in the event raised the flags of Syria and Palestine, pictures of the prisoners in the prisons of the Israeli occupation, and banners containing phrases about the memory of the evacuation and the continuation of the struggle until liberation and the expulsion of the occupier.
The Secretary-General of the United Communist Party of Syria, Najm Al-Din Al-Kharit, stressed in his speech that the Syrian people, who were able, with their strong will, to expel the French colonialists, are able to withstand and expel mercenaries and terrorists from all Syrian territory, stressing that Syria will continue to support the steadfastness and resistance of the Palestinian people until the liberation of the land and the return of rights.
And the Secretary of the Damascus branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Husam al-Samman, stated that the day of evacuation is an immortal day in history and a living witness that sacrifices, steadfastness and the will to victory achieve miracles, pointing out that the Palestinian prisoners are icons of freedom and the continuation of the struggle.
The head of the Committee for the Defense of Palestinian Prisoners and Detainees in the Prisons of the Occupation Prisoner, the liberated Tahsin Al-Halabi, indicated that the enemy's attempts to turn prisons into a tool of pressure on the prisoners failed because the prisoners, through their steadfastness and defiance of the occupier, made prison a means of resistance.
The Deputy Secretary-General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Fahd Suleiman, said, "It is necessary for Palestinian unity and mobilization of energies to confront the enemy, protect our people, and put our cause on the right track."
In turn, the dean of the liberated Syrian prisoners, Sedqi Al-Maqt, reiterated in an audio recording of him, in which he conveyed the message of the prisoners in the occupation prisons, the emphasis on continuing the process of evacuation and the Palestinian struggle to defeat the Zionist project and liberate the entire Golan lands and occupied Palestine, pointing to the need to form an audible and influential popular movement to expose the brutal practices of the occupation against the prisoners and to extract their freedom.
The Secretary of the (Fatah) Movement in Syria, Huda Badawi, gave a presentation on the movement's history and its heroic deeds, stressing its continuation of the resistance until victory and the establishment of the State of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.
The event was attended by the head of the Syrian Arab People’s Committee for Supporting the Palestinian People and Resisting the Zionist Project, Dr. Saber Falhout, the Director General of the Al-Quds International Foundation - Syria, Dr. Khalaf Al-Muftah, and a number of leaders and representatives of Palestinian factions, popular organizations, bodies, committees for the defense of prisoners, and Syrian and Palestinian student and community activities.
