The Nuremberg police wanted to check an Audi A5, but the driver sped away.

A chase ensued.

Nuremberg – There was a chase in Nuremberg, and the police are now looking for witnesses.

According to a press release, civil servants wanted to check a car on Saturday night (April 16).

The driver fled and drove through the city at a massively excessive speed.

At around 3.15 a.m., the civil patrol noticed a black Audi A5 with a Fürth license plate due to its driving behavior on the Plärrer.

the officials followed the car and wanted to check the driver on Fuggerstrasse.

But he accelerated and drove down Rothenburger Strasse out of town at a very high speed. 

After turning onto Heinrichstrasse, he drove via Kunigundenstrasse, Kreuzerstrasse and Geisseestrasse to Schweinauer Hauptstrasse.

According to the police, he accelerated to “well over 100 km/h”.

On Schweinauer Hauptstrasse / Gustav-Adolf-Strasse, he drove across the intersection without braking when the light was red.

He also ran a red traffic light at the junction with Zweibrückener Strasse, then turned onto the B2.

He made a U-turn in Weissenburger Strasse and drove via the B14 and Schweinauer Hauptstrasse to Zweibrückener Strasse.

"Due to the massively excessive speed and the associated potential danger to other road users, visual contact with the fleeing vehicle was partially lost," said the police.

As part of the manhunt, the vehicle you were looking for was found parked on Heidenheimer Strasse.

The 22-year-old driver returned to the parked car with his two passengers a short time later. The officers arrested him.

The officials also report: “An alcohol test showed a value of around 0.6 per thousand.

The officers seized the vehicle and the suspect's driver's license on the orders of the public prosecutor's office and took a blood sample."

Investigations were initiated against the driver for illegal motor vehicle racing, endangering road traffic and an offense against the Road Traffic Act (alcoholization).

Audi A5 races through Nuremberg - police ask for witnesses

The police are asking for witnesses: "People who have noticed the Audi A5 or road users who have been forced, endangered or even harmed by the driver's reckless driving behavior are asked to call the Nuremberg West Police Inspectorate on 0911 6583- 0 to report.”
