Former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori, 83, who is serving a 25-year prison sentence, was rushed to hospital again on Sunday in Lima due to heart problems, the prison said.
“At dawn on Sunday, the prisoner Alberto Fujimori was evacuated urgently to the hospital where his condition could be stabilized
”, wrote on Twitter the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE).

The team of doctors then decided to bring him to the Peruvian-Japanese Centennial Clinic in order to
"place him under observation"
, added the INPE.
Alberto Fujimori had already been hospitalized for 11 days in early March for heart problems.
This new hospitalization comes as the Inter-American Court of Human Rights ordered the Peruvian state to
"refrain from executing"
the decision of the Constitutional Court authorizing the early release of former President Alberto Fujimori, imprisoned for crimes against humanity.
The former president (1990-2000) has suffered since 2018 from atrial fibrillation for which he was operated on in October.
His daughter Keiko Fujimori, an unsuccessful candidate in the second round of the presidential election in 2011, 2016 and 2021, then declared that one of her father's heart arteries was
"70% clogged".
Imprisoned since 2007, Alberto Fujimori suffers from recurring health problems.
His family repeatedly requested, without success, his release for health reasons.
