Al-Hasakah Governor Ghassan Khalil affirmed during his meeting with the delegation of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Syria headed by Marat Atamuradov that the siege imposed by the “Qasd” militia on the people of Al-Hasakah and Qamishli and its prevention of bringing flour, fuel for ovens, foodstuffs, medicine and water tankers constitutes a crime against humanity.
During the meeting, in which civil activists from the province participated, Khalil pointed to the need for continued cooperation to secure a dignified return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, participate in its reconstruction, and support the state's efforts to overcome the unjust siege imposed on the Syrian people and alleviate their human suffering.
Khalil pointed out that the governorate continues to cooperate with the UNHCR office in Al-Hasakah to carry out its humanitarian work to the fullest extent, calling for the continuation of the commission's work in all impartiality and avoiding the politicization that some parties are trying to impose.
The demands of the attendees centered on securing the work of the Allouk water station and allowing maintenance workshops and alternates to be present in it to ensure the continuation of its work by pumping water and supporting emergency efforts to secure drinking water by increasing the number of tanks and the number of filling times and digging and preparing surface wells.
They also called for an increase in the number of health projects and services provided in the form of surgeries, analyzes, images and x-rays in partnership with charitable societies, an increase in the number of food and in-kind baskets, and work to secure the necessary needs for the modernized medical center such as incubators for children, an oxygen generating station, cylinders and emergency medicines, and work on securing electric generators, maintenance of production lines, and securing supplies bread.
