The staff of a regional train denied a man without a ticket to continue his journey.

In protest, he lies down on the rails and stops the train.

Hanover ‒ What to do if you really want to ride the train but don't have a valid ticket?

Just put it in front of the train and force the ride.

At least that's what a 28-year-old man thought who was thrown out of a regional train on Easter Monday (April 18, 2022) at around 10:30 a.m. in Mellendorf near Hanover.

The reason for this was that he did not have a ticket for the journey towards Schwarmstedt.

But the man from Algeria didn't just accept being thrown out - in protest he lay down on the rails in front of the train to prevent the train from leaving and to force his ride, as reported by hna.de*.

The alarmed federal police in Hanover asked colleagues from Mellendorf for support.

A patrol from the local state police Lower Saxony* was finally able to remove the man from the track area and record his personal data.

Ultimately, the regional train was able to resume the journey after a delay of 33 minutes.

The Algerian is now being investigated for fraudulently obtaining services and dangerous intervention in rail traffic.

In addition to the criminal consequences, the man could now face civil claims from Deutsche Bahn AG.

Again and again passengers are caught without tickets in the region.

Just like at the end of 2021, when a man was caught without a ticket for the 72nd time*.

Just a few months later, the federal police arrested a man on the train between Hamburg and Hanover who had traveled almost 300 times without a ticket*.
