A group of climate protection demonstrators tore up the sidewalk in front of the Federal Ministry of Economics in Berlin.
Next to them, disguised as construction workers, they laid pipes with the inscription “Qatar Stream” on Invalidenstrasse near the main train station.
Several demonstrators sat down in front of the entrance to the ministry headed by Robert Habeck (Greens) with a banner “Stop the fossil madness”.
The protest group »Last Generation« tweeted: »How convenient.
Oil from Qatar is now coming out of the ground directly in front of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.« Police officers ended the action and determined the personal details of the demonstrators.
Since January, the »Last Generation« protest initiatives have repeatedly blocked freeways and disrupted traffic at airports in Berlin and other major cities such as Hamburg and Frankfurt in order to enforce more climate protection.
Scores of demonstrators were arrested.
