The International Organization for Migration revealed that 95 illegal immigrants perished at sea, in addition to the interception and return of more than four thousand, including 122 minors.
"Since last January, 95 migrants have died while trying to cross the Mediterranean, while 662 others have been registered missing," the Italian agency, Aki, quoted the organization as saying in a report issued today.
The report indicated that last Friday witnessed the last drowning incident of migrants, when a small wooden boat carrying 35 people capsized off the coast of Sabratha in Libya. Only six bodies were recovered, while the remaining 29 were missing.
The report added that more than four thousand migrants, including 122 minors, have been intercepted in the central Mediterranean and returned to the Libyan coasts since the beginning of this year, noting that from the 10th to the 16th of this April, 45 migrants were returned, and last year 32,425 migrants were stopped and returned to Libya. .
