The Ministry of Health this morning (Tuesday) asked the directors of the health funds and hospitals to report cases of hepatitis in children (hepatitis).
This, against the background of a warning issued by the World Health Organization in recent days due to a significant increase in such cases in Europe.
To date, the Ministry of Health has reported 12 cases of children hospitalized in recent months at Shaare Zedek and Schneider hospitals - and may fit the definition of the case.
According to data from the World Health Organization, 84 cases of infection in children aged ten and under have been reported in the UK.
Nine more cases of hepatitis were also reported in the United States and three cases in Spain.
Of all these cases, three of the children reached a state of liver failure and needed a liver transplant.

It is currently unclear what the source of this outbreak is.
It is estimated that the virus is the cause of the disease, but it has not yet been identified and at this stage it is not known whether it is a known or new virus.
At the same time, other hypotheses are being tested, including whether it is a reaction to chemicals or toxins (toxins) that have been distributed in these areas or whether it is a post-cobweb-related phenomenon.
