Seven years after Israel outlawed the northern faction of the Islamic Movement, and a year after factions took a major part in the incitement that accompanied the riots in the cities involved, its people now and in the past, along with affiliated bodies, continue to incite against the state and get involved among Israeli Arabs.

The two main focal points for the faction's activities are Jerusalem, centered on the Temple Mount and the Old City, and the Negev, mainly the Bedouin settlements.

The faction's leader, Sheikh Raed Salah, who was released from prison last December, was received in his hometown of Umm al-Fahm in honor of kings, including by the mayor of Umm al-Fahm, Dr. Samir Subhi Mahamid, who last month even attended a launch event to tell pictures about Umm Al-Fahm composed by Salah and invited by the Umm al-Fahm municipality.

Salah, who was released from prison after 16 months in prison, was also received with open arms by the High Monitoring Committee of Israeli Arabs, where he plays the role of "Head of the Peace Committees in Arab Society", where he regains influence and increases his power - both in Israel, in visits to cities The involvement and in the Bedouin localities in the Negev, and in the territories of Judea and Samaria, in visits to cities such as Nablus and Hebron

. Mansour Abbas in the government.

The Supreme Council for Halachic Associations, which is affiliated with the northern faction, headed by Dr. Mashhor Poaz, also continues to operate.

"Deepening ties in the West Bank"

In Umm al-Fahm, principals and educators expose their students to the contents of the faction and the northern movement, and Rahat operates an office for enrolling Israeli Arabs in a curriculum at the University of Hebron, a university completely affiliated with Hamas.

One of the coordinators who runs the registry office - a teacher and Imam Barhat, a former member of the northern faction - notes in his publications that it is a university where Raed Salah and Kamal Khatib his deputy grew up, and where "the best scholars, preachers and leaders of our people were educated."

Arab networks

The plan's strategy page states, among other things, that its goals are "to provide an opportunity for the residents of occupied Palestine (Israeli Arabs; N.S.) to deepen their ties with their brethren in the West Bank, and with their heritage, language and religion, including Arabic and Islamic jurisprudence."

Erdogan's man in Jerusalem

Salah, who has returned to activity, holds revival conferences, inaugurates mosques and goes on to talk about "al-Aqsa in danger."

His deputy, Khatib, who played a key role in inciting the Temple Mount about a year ago, continues to ensure that "the Israeli occupation and Zionism will move away from the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem, as the Crusaders did in the past."

He is coordinated with the former Mufti of Jerusalem - Sheikh Akram Sabri, currently the chairman of the Supreme Muslim Council and one of the extremists among the people of East Jerusalem - who in the past indirectly supported suicide bombings.

Sabri is also Erdogan's man in East Jerusalem.

He took part in incitement in the Temple Mount riots last year, and has also been involved in the violent events on the Temple Mount in recent days.

The security forces have often recommended that various restrictive measures be taken against him.

The police, who have been trying for the past year to arrest some of the northern faction's activists, encountered an unexpected difficulty: these identified themselves as southern faction activists, and the police, although they knew this was not the case, were forced to release them.
