Moscow - Sana
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that the target designation time for the Russian Kalibr and Kinzhal missiles had been reduced by dozens, thanks to the new communication systems.
"The development of the communications system for the Russian armed forces is taking place using leading communications technologies, including the introduction of artificial intelligence elements," Shoigu was quoted as saying during a meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry today, noting that the use of these technologies helped reduce the time for target identification for long-range weapon systems. Dozens of times as high as the Kalibr and Kinzhal missiles.
And Shoigu indicated that the signal and sensing forces successfully perform tasks in the context of operations outside Russia, and new methods of organizing communications have been tested to ensure the direction and management of forces in difficult geographical conditions and interventions.
The Kalibr missile, which was designed in 2012, is a high-precision weapon and can be used as a winged missile that flies as low as 30 meters and may be used as a ballistic missile that flies at a high altitude, while the newly developed Kinzhal missile system specializes in destroying land and sea targets, and the missile flies at a speed exceeding 10 times the speed of the sound.
