A 16-year-old died violently at the end of 1990, a perpetrator was not convicted at the time.

Now the police are starting a new attempt.

Wörth am Main – More than 31 years ago, a young man died violently.

Now the Lower Franconia police have reopened the case.

Wörth am Main: 16-year-old killed more than 31 years ago – perpetrator not yet found

For example, new DNA tests were commissioned to convict a perpetrator, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.

The victim (16) from Wörth am Main in the district of Miltenberg had not come home on December 20, 1990.

Three days later, walkers found the young man dead in a forest near the small town on the Bavarian-Hessian border.

Despite extensive investigations, no perpetrator was convicted at the time.

"A 'cold case' is never completely closed," said the police spokesman.

"We would now like information from the population." Therefore, the police and public prosecutor's office want to inform the public about the new investigations in Wörth this Friday.

Wörth am Main: Police are investigating the "cold case" of a young person

The Aschaffenburg criminal police is working with a special commission on the unsolved case.

Further details about the cause of death or the murder weapon were not initially known.

Shortly after the crime, the Aschaffenburg police reported that the baker's apprentice had probably been killed by violence with a sharp-edged tool against his neck.

Although murder does not become statute-barred, the longer a crime was committed, the more difficult it is to solve it.

Decades after unsolved crimes, the police and relatives are primarily relying on new scientific techniques and evaluation methods to track down the perpetrators.

According to police statistics, the clear-up rate for murder has been 90 to 95 percent for years.
