The Ministry of Health continues to investigate cases of infection in 12 children with acute hepatitis.
7 of them were hospitalized in Schneider, of which at least 5 suffered from the disease as a result of corona complications.
4 have reached a state of liver failure.
However, the hospital reassures: "Do not think there is an outbreak of an epidemic at the moment in the State of Israel, there is no room for panic"

Five of the 12 Israeli children who suffered from acute hepatitis, which is being examined by the Ministry of Health, became ill as a result of Corona, Schneider Hospital updated today (Wednesday).
The hospital operates the Institute of Gastroenterology, Nutrition and Liver Diseases, where seven of the 12 children are hospitalized.
Dr. Yael Mozer-Glazberg, director of the Liver Transplant Service for Children and a senior physician at the institute, said four of the infected children had liver
failure - and two of them needed transplants.
The two who needed the transplant, babies a few months old, underwent "extensive screening," and no cause for the disease was found other than corona.

She referred to the World Health Organization's warning of an increase in infection in Europe and the United States, calmed down and said that there was no fear of an epidemic in Israel.
"There may be something we do not see and that the organization did recognize. There is no room for panic," she said.
She explained that in Israel, a total of 20 to 24 liver transplants are performed on children under the age of 18. "In half of them, it is something congenital or something genetic. A few percent of transplants are due to liver failure with symptoms such as jaundice, weakness, fatigue and confusion. , She noted.

In recent days, the World Health Organization has issued a warning following a significant increase in hepatitis in Europe.
Following the warning, the Ministry of Health announced that it was investigating a suspicion that 12 children had contracted inflammation in Israel.
It is estimated that the virus is the cause of the disease, but it has not yet been identified and at this stage it is not known whether it is a known or new virus.
At the same time, other hypotheses are being tested, in which it is a reaction to chemicals or toxins.
At the same time, the possibility is being examined that this is a phenomenon related to post-cobid.
According to data from the World Health Organization, 84 cases of infection in children aged ten and under have been reported in the UK.
Nine more cases of hepatitis were also reported in the United States and three cases in Spain.
Out of all the cases, three children reached a state of liver failure and needed a liver transplant.
