He ran a half marathon every day for seven days and climbed almost 2,000 meters: Maximilian von Chamier completed his charity run for refugee aid in the Ukraine.

Walchensee

– 159.8 kilometers and exactly 1967 meters in altitude between Saturday, April 9th and Good Friday, April 15th: Maximilian von Chamier presents this impressive balance sheet.

As reported, the 19-year-old from Walchensee wants to do his bit to collect money for the refugees from Ukraine.

The passionate mountain runner came up with and realized this project himself.

The donation account was set up at the Raiffeisenbank Wallgau-Krün and will remain open for a while.

A good 500 euros have been received so far.

Two companies also donated provisions to the young man.

Walchensee half marathon every day

With his bright yellow T-shirt and blue cap – visually matching the national colors of the Ukraine – Maximilian von Chamier couldn't be overlooked during his running week.

"I was always very happy when the fishermen waved at me in the morning or sometimes strangers spoke to me from the car."

Only the weather would have been better for the 19-year-old.

On the first day he completed his program in the morning on the southern shore of Lake Walchen, the winter had once again given a rendezvous.

“But it was a good run,” sums up the young man.

On Sunday we went to Krün and the Barmsee.

On Monday he ran the big lap around the Walchensee.

In order to "rest a little", he divided up the workload on Tuesday and did easy rounds near the village and to Obernach in the morning and afternoon.

Despite knee pain, we kept running for donations

On Wednesday, the biggest lap was on the program - it went up the Simetsberg.

For the 19-year-old, who is actually a passionate mountain runner and doesn't really like running on flat terrain, it's the icing on the cake of the week, so to speak.

But it turned out that the conditions on the mountain were still too wintry for a leisurely tour.

"Actually, I wanted to go further into the Estergebirge, but that was out of the question." Safety was the top priority for the Walchensee resident.

“I was waist deep in the snow and it was already so muddy from the heat.

Actually, I always run without a break, but I had to stop here again and again.” So it was “only” at the Simetsberg, which of course filled the route profile well with over 1000 meters of altitude difference.

On Thursday he then had a slack and had problems motivating himself, reports the young man.

In addition, the knee pinched.

"But I had a goal in mind, so I thought of the fundraiser and got it." It became a half marathon on his usual route on the southern shore of Lake Walchensee.

On Friday, the final day, getting up again took a lot of strength.

"That's when I realized how tired I am from the week," reports the 19-year-old.

In addition, the weather was bad, in the morning there was even a thunderstorm in Walchensee.

But he gritted his teeth and ran his rounds around the Walchensee.

Now he's happy, content and proud - and he's already recovered over Easter.

The knee no longer pinches either.

"It was exhausting.

But now it's good.” He kept himself fit on the go with nut and energy bars and water.

Magnesium and vitamin tablets were also in his backpack.

At home there was plenty of pasta and his favorite dish, gnocchi.

Sports shoes worn out

His pair of running shoes is worn out - "but I've been out in them before and I expected it," says the 19-year-old.

With almost 160 kilometers he has far exceeded his weekly workload of 125 kilometers on average.

All of this can also be followed on his Instagram profile (maxl.ch) and on the Strava running platform (Maximilian von Chamier), where the Walchensee resident documented everything.

The 19-year-old thanks everyone who has supported him, even if he hasn't quite reached his fundraising goal – two euros per kilometer run and 20 cents per meter of altitude run (almost 715 euros in total).

But: "I'll leave the donation account open because maybe someone else wants to get involved." The money then goes to the UN refugee aid.

donation account

Maximilian von Chamier set up a donation account at the Raiffeisenbank Wallgau-Krün for his campaign.
