There was a two-year break due to the corona.

This year it should finally take place again: the "Lange Tafel" in the Münchner Straße.

Dachau - The popular street festival is one of the event highlights in Dachau alongside the folk festival, baroque picnic and others.

With culinary delicacies and a cultural supporting program, the "Lange Tafel" attracted up to 10,000 visitors from the entire district to Münchner Straße every year.

Lange Tafel is organized for the first time by "Dachau acting".

This year, for the first time, the Long Table is being organized by “Dachau acts”.

The district-wide trade association wants to revive the festival after the two-year Corona compulsory break.

"We will use the restart to give new impetus and to optimize and professionalize things - without changing the basic concept and the character of the Long Table as a street festival," promises Chairwoman Isabel Seeber.

The businesswoman had previously organized the major event with IG Münchner Straße until 2019.

One of the most important innovations for 2022: "Even more than before, regionality is in the foreground this time," explains Ralf Weimer, Managing Director of "Dachau Handel" GmbH.

Dachau is already getting involved in the planning and preparations for the 2022 edition of the Long Table.

A date has already been set: If the general conditions permit, the street festival is to take place on Saturday, September 10th - i.e. as usual on the last Saturday of the summer holidays.

Tradespeople from the district who want to be there with their own market stall can now apply at www.dachau-handelt.de/lange-tafel-2022.

Subsidy was still too much for the city councilors in 2019

Most recently, in 2019, city councilors had complained that the "Lange Tafel" had become "a victim of its success".

The organizers had applied for a grant of 24,000 euros to host the 2019 festival in April three years ago.

The city council reluctantly approved around 20,000 euros - but on the condition that "alternative solutions to reduce the deficit" be found (we reported).

The “Dachau act” association, which was founded in the course of the pandemic in July 2020, is currently working on exactly these money-saving solutions, as Managing Director Weimer admits.

Discussions had already taken place with the city, in which those responsible in the town hall had clearly expressed their wish for the “Lange Tafel” to take place again this year.

Whether a subsidy of “15,000 or 20,000 euros is needed, we will work out conceptually in the next four to six weeks,” promises Weimer.

He explicitly does not want to rule out an idea that some city councilors expressed three years ago and that organizer Seeber had rejected at the time: asking for an entrance fee.

"Our goal is quite clear, that we make a family-friendly festival without admission," says Weimer.

However, the whole “Tafel” planning is currently being “put on a new footing.

We're going to do it all over again."

First of all, it is about getting a picture of the mood among the market traders: who is interested, who wants to take part?

According to Weimer, if this mood picture is available, "then we have to show our colors".
