Tonight (Wednesday), Prime Minister Naftali Bennett also confronted the iconic CNN presenter Christian Amanpour in an interview on the prestigious news channel.
Amanpur asked Bennett about the words of the commander of the Central Command, Major General Yehuda Fox, that he was "disturbed by the settlers' violence."
"If he says that, what's your reaction to that?" Amanpour asked Bennett.
The prime minister replied: "What you are broadcasting is blatantly false."
Amenpur asked: "Why do you say that?".
Bennett: "I'll tell you why. Because it's a lie. The overwhelming majority."
The presenter reacted angrily: "Let me finish Christian, I can tell you that (smiling; AL). A sweeping majority of half a million Israelis. Let me finish. You do not represent the facts."
Amenpur defended: "I said a minority of extremists. That's what I said."
Bennett replied: "This is a tiny group and I oppose the symmetry you are trying to create, because out of half a million good Israelis ...".
The waitress interrupted the prime minister: "There is no symmetry here, I'm talking about your general."
Bennett: "I can finish."
Amenpur: "Yes."
Bennett: "Out of the 500,000 Israelis who obey the law and are honest in Judea and Samaria, there are several hundred, perhaps less, who use violence from time to time. But who was killed? We see Palestinians killing Israelis, non-Israelis killing Palestinians, so there is no symmetry here. "They are disputed areas and we have a demand for our own place and they also have a demand, I understand that, we need to find out how to live together. That is my job."
