Personalities from the cultural world of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, where the far-right candidate Marine Le Pen came out on top in the first round of the presidential election, called on Wednesday in Nice to vote in favor of Emmanuel Macron in the second round.

Gathered at the initiative of the mayor (ex-LR) of Nice, Christian Estrosi, rallied to the outgoing president, figures from the cultural world took turns speaking at the L'Artistique theater, including Charles Berling, director of the Théâtre Liberté de Toulon, Muriel Mayette-Holz, director of the National Theater of Nice (TNN) or Michel Boujenah, artistic director of the Ramatuelle festival (Alpes-Maritimes).
“Marine Le Pen represents a real danger for the world in which I like to live
,” declared Michel Boujenah.
"I would lose my dignity if I wasn't here to say what these people are going to do to all of us, not just the culture, if ever, ever, it ever comes to power
," he added.
Vote
“against the far right”
As in 2017, Marine Le Pen, the far-right candidate, came close to the grand slam in the first round in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur by winning five of the six departments.
At the regional level, the standard bearer of the National Rally drained 27.59% of the vote and was ahead of Emmanuel Macron by four points (23.34%) and by almost eight points Jean-Luc Mélenchon (19.77%).

The president of the region, Renaud Muselier, who had beaten the far right in the last regional elections, also relayed this call by videoconference from Marseille, like the pianist Nicolas Bringuier or Daniel Benoin, director of the Anthéa theater in Antibes.
In a forum, all of these personalities call for
“voting against the far right and choosing Emmanuel Macron (…) because culture unites when so many other subjects divide”
