Tennis player Laura Siegemund returned to the WTA tournament in Stuttgart after her long injury break with a respectable success.
After a successful performance, the Swabian won the first round of her home tournament on Wednesday evening against Tamara Zidansek from Slovenia 6:3, 6:3.
Stuttgart – For the 2017 Stuttgart winner, it was the first win in a WTA main draw since June last year.
A few weeks later, the 34-year-old had her knee operated on and paused for months.
Due to the injury, the former top 30 player is no longer in the top 200 in the world rankings.
After her comeback she had been waiting for a win in the singles.
In the round of 16 on Thursday (not before 5:00 p.m. / Eurosport) the Metzingerin meets the fifth in the world rankings, Maria Sakkari from Greece.
Tamara Korpatsch also plays against British US Open winner Emma Raducanu.
