Logitech's Lift vertical mouse is the perfect accessory for working from home

This comfortable vertical ergonomic mouse from Logitech is available in three colors: bone white, graphite and pink.

As a work-from-home person, I was excited to try out Logitech's new Vertical Ergonomic Mouse, which is now available in three colors: Bone White, Graphite, and Pink.

The latest addition to the company's Ergo line, which includes the Logitech Ergo K860, our pick for best ergonomic keyboard, the unique-looking Lift was designed to put less stress on everything from your shoulders, back, and forearms to the dolls.

Specifically aimed at small to medium-sized hands, it features a compact build, rubber grip, thumb rest, and an odd, yet uncannily easy-to-master vertical construction that helped give it its name.

Although we chose the Logitech MX Master 3 as our best ergonomic mouse, which offers a more conventional shape, we named Logitech's largest, most expensive and most feature-rich MX Vertical mouse a close second.

The Lift bypasses the MX Vertical's USB-C charging for a single AA battery and is available in a left-handed model, though both are validated by US Ergonomics and come with a back-friendly AGR seal of approval.

But is the 57-degree vertical design worth the equally high price of $70?

These are our thoughts after incorporating the Logitech Lift into our home office space for a week.

what we loved

I confess, I have never used a vertical mouse before.

But during the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, when my husband took over the only home office in our apartment (he takes more calls than I do and needed privacy), I found myself sequestered at the dining room table.

This led to extremely poor posture and a deep look at better ergonomics, as well as some physical therapy.

And while I invested in a better office chair, a larger monitor, and a split ergonomic keyboard from Microsoft, it didn't occur to me to upgrade my mouse as well.

Until now.

Logitech Lift landed on my desk last week.

Well, two of them actually, as I received a right handed off white and a left handed graphite.

I opened the box and inspected its sleek architectural design and it has a soft grip.

A vertical mouse keeps your arm and wrist in a more natural position by holding them as if shaking hands, also keeping them in line with your arm.

The idea is that you never have to twist your arm to grab it, which reduces contractions in your forearm muscles.

With dimensions of 4.72 x 3.11 x 3.09 inches, the Lift fits my smaller hands perfectly and I immediately decided on the thumb rest.

Easy to set up and use

Setting it up was a piece of cake right out of the box.

The single AA battery was already installed, so all I had to do was turn it on and it automatically paired with my MacBook Pro via Bluetooth.

Although I'm not sure, Logitech says the battery should last up to two years.

I ditched my beloved Microsoft Arc Mouse, which I've used for the past two years and is especially easy to flatten and toss in a bag on my way to work, and traded it in for the Logitech Lift.

It took me about five minutes to get used to the grip and use of the two left and right buttons and the scroll wheel, which are on the side rather than sitting on top of the mouse.

The back fit nicely in my palm and I could rest my wrist on the desk.

And since the armrest on my chair was at the correct height, I could use my elbow instead of my hand to move the mouse.

The whole process also made it easier to sit up straight, which is something I have to think about all the time now.

Both the scroll wheel on the right side and the click buttons on both sides are quiet and easy to reach with your thumb and forefinger.

And I liked how easy it was to control the magnetic, rubberized SmartWheel, which you can click slowly to navigate or move quickly to scroll faster through longer documents.

Simple pairing with multiple devices

Although I'm mostly sticking to a laptop at the moment, Logitech lets you pair the mouse with up to three different devices running Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS, iPadOS, or Android, and switch between them instantly by pressing the button on the base of the Lift.

The mouse also supports a fourth connection with an included

dongle

.

And if you're using more than one display, the Logitech Flow feature lets you move your cursor between three computers at the same time.

Logitech also makes Lift easy for any type of user through its new Logi Options+ software for Windows and Mac. Once installed, it walked me through all the buttons individually and succinctly, showing me how I could customize each one. button, adjust the pointer speed, and toggle between sensitivity levels on the SmartWheel.

I chose to make the two buttons on the left side "copy" and "paste", but left the scroll wheel and pointer speed as they are.

What we didn't like

For the most part, I appreciated almost everything about the Logitech Lift's design and simplicity.

The only complaint is the placement of the small DPI button that sits directly below the SmartWheel.

Although I didn't feel the need to adjust the cursor speed, those who do may find it more elusive.

And lastly, I might feel more comfortable with a rechargeable USB-C option instead of relying on an AA battery.

If you prefer to have a mouse with a rechargeable battery (or want the option of using a wired connection), you're better off choosing MX Vertical.

Conclusions

The Logitech Lift is among the best ergonomic mice we've tested and our favorite vertical option so far.

It fit beautifully in the palm of my hand, was easy to move around without moving my wrist, and best of all, the learning curve was almost non-existent.

I liked that it worked right out of the box and could instantly connect to three different computers.

And, unlike most other mice, there's a left-hand option for lefties.

Due to its more compact design and lower price, Lift is a great alternative to the Logitech MX vertical mouse for small to medium hands.

Unless you want a rechargeable battery, optional wired connection, or have bigger hands, we think the Lift is the new vertical mouse most WFH warriors should buy.

And if you prefer a more traditional flat design, the $99 Logitech MX Master 3 is still our best overall mouse pick.
