St. Wolfgang - The St. Wolfgang music association is planning performances again and honored loyal members and musicians.

Music clubs were severely restricted by the corona pandemic, because the instruments had to remain silent.

At the Musikverein St. Wolfgang, the department management also looked back on two “difficult years” at the annual general meeting.

With the end of most restrictions, people are now more optimistic about the future.

The Musikverein is now looking forward to the first big performance on Saturday, April 23, from 7.30 p.m., when the autumn concert in the Goldachhalle will be rescheduled.

"Finally rehearsals and making music together are possible again," said the chairman, Thomas Seisenberger, in the annual general meeting in the Schex inn in front of around 80 members, describing the atmosphere in the music association.

And the usual musical accompaniment by the youth and main band was possible again.

Since there were hardly any performances last year and club life was severely restricted, the reports from secretary Thomas Bürger and treasurer Anita Gaigl were also quite brief.

After all, there is the prospect that the band will have “some nice performances” again this year, for example at the erection of the maypole in Schönbrunn, at the 100th anniversary of the founding of the St. Wolfgang rural youth in June or at the Isen folk festival and then at the autumn concert on November 12th the Goldach Hall.

In retrospect, Seisenberger recalled that at the events that the chapel had attended in 2021, the threat of a fine of up to 25,000 euros for non-compliance with the Corona rules always hung over him as the responsible board member: "It was not a great pleasure."

On the other hand, it was gratifying that the appearance at the presentation of the honorary citizen medal to the former municipal councilor and deputy mayor Anton Schneider could take place.

The highlight was the two-day music weekend at the folk music academy in Freyung.

That "welded the musicians together enormously" and it was incredible fun to see the musical development in such a short time.

All in all, according to Seisenberger, the Musikverein had "come through the difficult times quite well".

The financial situation of the association is such that it is still able to act.

But if the box office continues to fall without revenue from canceled performances, it could become problematic.

After all, the running expenses would still have to be paid for.
