(CNN Spanish) -

Natanael Cano presented his production "NATAKONG" at the beginning of April, the most personal album of his career, he says, and in which he wanted to leave his followers wanting more of the genre associated with his name: the corridos tumbaos.

The production, which consists of 18 songs, entered the top 10 of Billboard's Latin Rhythm Album chart this Wednesday, and it is the production that also takes the Coachella stage for the first time, which takes place in Indio, California.

"I saved some corridos I had for another album I'm doing," Cano told Zona Pop CNN in an interview via Zoom.

"[NATAKONG] is for the purpose of leaving fans wanting corridos, so they're going to be very eager to hear more corridos, so I decided to save some," he adds.

The 21-year-old Mexican rapper has amassed a legion of loyal fans, who have been captivated by his sometimes explicit lyrics in which he talks about excess money, fame, gun violence and more.

In his songs he mixes trap with corridos – also known as lying corridos – a style that has impregnated his name and which they already call a musical genre, quite consumed among generation Z.

The birth of the genre, Nathanael says, was organic.

"I think it came from within, it was inevitable, I already had it. I had to spend the

corridos lying down

. We did it from the heart, we did it organically, we did it in the neighborhood. People were able to grasp it well, perhaps they forgot that essence because a long time has passed, it's been like 3 years," the rapper told CNN Pop Zone.

Cano began his career in 2019 with "Everything is different", his first album.

Since then he has released 10 albums, averaging three LPs per year.

"NATAKONG" is the first album he releases this year and he truly considers it his third album because, he says, it is where he has consciously made music.

Natanael Cano and criticism of the opulence he shows on networks

The singer is frequently criticized on social networks, either for his lyrics or for the opulence he shows in some publications.

In some of his songs, such as "Free Nata", with which he opens the production, there are verses in which he boasts about the number of escorts that accompany him or the Rolexes he has in his box.

However, he claims to be humble.

"I try not to do it, maybe before, yes," says Natanael Cano when asked by Zona Pop CNN about the criticism he receives for bragging about the money he accumulates.

"From the age of 20, 21, I calmed down a little. I love humility, I am not against humility, I feel that I am humble, I try to be a good person, a good person, like any other," he said.

His collaboration with Steve Aoki

Cano collaborated on the production with renowned American DJ Steve Aoki.

This is the theme that closes the production, number 18, "Nataaoki".

The rapper told Zona Pop CNN that he met the businessman in Cancun and later they met in Las Vegas, where Aoki lives, and that same day the theme was born.

"Steve Aoki is incredible. He opened doors for me from day zero. I met him in Cancun, he was playing and we made several connections before the song. The day I went to his house, we were in Las Vegas, we got into to the studio, we did the song quickly and we loved it. That same day we shot half of the video, as well as started another one. We have two songs, one that [is] on my album and another that is going to be on his album " Cano told CNN Pop Zone.

And with the impressive number of tracks that comprise the production, there had to be one that cost him the most.

And yes, it is “Estrellas”, the single with which he presented the album.

"I recorded this song like four times, literally. I fully recorded the song in one style, and no, and I recorded the song in another and no... There are like four songs on this album that were recorded five times. And in the end I'm never satisfied," Cano said.

Cano announced in the interview that his next production will be focused on lying corridos.

"After this album I'm going to focus on corridos, just like trap… although one day I say one thing and another day I say another," said the rapper with a laugh.

Will you launch this production in 2022?

We have to wait.
