Experts estimate that by 2030 the first space colonies will be established • The prices of space flights are also expected to fall over the years • Tens of thousands of Israelis have already purchased real estate on the moon • Science fiction or sober real estate entrepreneurship? time will tell

(Real Estate) Hot on the Moon: The

flight of Israeli billionaire Eitan Steve to space, which also won the title of "the first Israeli to dock at a space station on the moon," is arousing great excitement among many Israelis these days.

The space is still shrouded in aura of mystery, despite the many journeys made over the past few years by manned and unmanned spacecraft, with the aim of exploring everything around us.

However, there are developers who already see outer space, and specifically the moon, an invaluable real estate opportunity.

"First, in order to consider such a delusional possibility as much as it sounds to the reasonable reader, we must wait for the conditions to be created for a human colony on the moon," explains Nir Shmol, CEO of Snir Beit Real Estate Marketing in Israel and abroad.

"The decision of NASA and other countries in the world, including Japan, is to allow basic settlement conditions.

"This is a significant first decision in the real estate aspect, along with the first commercial flights to the moon, which business companies are now offering to wealthy people from all over the world who are looking for excitement and the fulfillment of extraordinary dreams."

Shmol adds: "It is estimated that by 2030, American NASA and international space agencies from other countries will establish first space colonies.

In the first stage these will be colonies to be built for the benefit of research.

"Along the way, it is to be expected that with the development of commercial space and moon flights, and the expected reduction in flight prices, spacecraft will initially be able to offer people to visit space and stay in space stations in the form of 'hotels' on the moon, until returning to Earth."

"Once there are elementary living conditions like water, electricity, energy, food, etc., and adequate living conditions, the next step will be in my estimation in 30-20 years, when the conditions for real estate on the moon will develop.

However, the question of ownership of it will be a legal issue, since according to the UN Charter the moon belongs to humanity in general and not to such and such countries. "

Where did the idea of acquiring land on the moon come from?

Shmol explains how thinking outside the box of one American entrepreneur led to a revolution in thinking about the moon as a real estate source.

"In 2007, following NASA's announcement of its intention to establish a manned base on the moon (an intention that has not yet been realized), many Israelis purchased parts of the moon through franchises through developer Dennis Hope.

"In the 1980s, he began selling ownership of land on the moon while 'exploiting' a loophole in international law and claiming ownership of non-Earth star land."

Hope actually recorded in the American taboo the moon and all the other planets in the solar system in his name.

It took advantage of a loophole in the 1967 UN Space Convention, which states that states have no territorial ownership of celestial bodies, but the treaty did not address private ownership of these territories at all.

NASA's announcement of the intention to establish a base led at the time about 1,000 Israelis to purchase plots of four dunams each on the moon, at a price of NIS 250 for each plot.

"The initiative was perceived mainly as a gimmick for the purpose of birthday gifts and according to estimates so far, about 20,000 Israelis have purchased ownership of land in the moon, which, as mentioned, the possibility of realization exists neither legally nor practically," explains Shmol.

The legend of the sun and moon

The American developer Hope, which claims ownership of the moon and eight other planets, including Mars and Venus, has to date sold land in outer space for more than 5.7 million people from 193 countries around the world, including tens of thousands of Israelis.

In fact, Dennis Hope continues to sell about 200 properties daily, and so far he has sold land with a total area of 2.4 million square kilometers - more than the territory of Germany, France, Britain, Italy and Spain combined. That he is pointing randomly at somewhere on the moon map.

Nir Shmol concludes: "I estimate that companies such as Amazon, Google, Facebook, the companies of entrepreneur Elon Musk and Richard Branson and others, will be the leading companies in the real estate journey towards the moon, both from the commercial and human aspect, of offering a possibility. For more life in light of the great fear of nuclear wars, the climate crisis and natural disasters, God forbid.

Moon real estate already exists, developers are in, is the future successful real estate acquisition around the corner?

time will tell.

But there is no doubt that we are getting closer to that. "
