Several experts and doctors' unions said after the decision of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz to abolish the obligation to wear masks starting Saturday night on their reasons why the decision is good and why not.
Prof. Dror Mevorach, director of the internal department at Hadassah and director of the Corona department, claims that the decision is too early.
"I'm afraid it's going to hurt the weak in society like the adults and vaccinated. I do not understand why hurry, this is the simplest restriction that keeps a lot. I think they should have waited until at least after Independence Day so that the weak can enjoy the celebrations without fear. "Also to lead to bad consequences that we want to avoid. There is no need to overtake the other countries in everything, it is not competition."
The "Madat" association is a little hesitant.
"The decision to abolish the obligation to wear masks in most public places must be accompanied by extensive publicity initiatives by the Ministry of Health. The initiatives should encourage personal responsibility and explain to the public that when not feeling well, wear a mask this".

"Studies to date have repeatedly shown that a mask reduces the transmission of the virus. This means that everyone has a responsibility to protect those around us, so it is important to refine the recommendations to the public and explain each person's contribution," the association explained.
In contrast, the Association of Public Health Physicians of the Medical Association welcomed the decision.
"Removing masks - in the right place and at the right time. Canceling the obligation does not mean canceling the recommendation to wear masks to reduce the risk of infection. We have already noticed that morbidity trends change so we recommend the public keep the masks and use them when needed."
"The corona plague and its aftermath have severely damaged public health in Israel. It is time to invest in infrastructure and manpower, care for people and be better prepared for the next challenges."
