The perpetrator left the pay machine intact, and the art objects on the first floor - the town hall is in the former Ismaninger Castle - were of no interest to the burglar.

He was aiming for identity documents in the residents' registration office.

The police believe that there is not much that can be done with the captured blanks.

She immediately moved in with forensics, so that operations in the residents' registration office were interrupted until the afternoon.

Some citizens, including refugees from Ukraine, had to be put off.

The administration set up an emergency operation in the small meeting room - and discovered how the perpetrator had gotten into the house: He had smashed the window to the castle wall with a granite cobblestone.

"Here, considerable violence and a high degree of criminal energy were used," says Luise Stangl.

Police hope for clues

The crime period can be limited to the time from Tuesday, April 19, 8 p.m. to Wednesday, April 20, 7 a.m.
