Hausham - self-construction of the building yard or ready-made solution?

The Hausham municipal council recently debated the public toilet at the Volksfestplatz.

The Hausham municipal councils have long been in agreement that the public toilet at the Volksfestplatz urgently needs to be replaced.

However, there was a lively debate at the most recent meeting about whether the little house should give way to a self-construction by the building yard or a ready-made solution.

The size, costs, availability, cleaning and whether the construction of a toilet was one of the original tasks of the building yard were discussed.

Finally, a voice decided the matter.

As is well known, the existing toilet facility with five urinals and two permanent toilets in the men's and three in the women's area is not only defective, but also not barrier-free.

Economic restructuring is therefore out of the question.

As a replacement, the administration, in consultation with the building yard, proposed a vandalism-proof L-shaped toilet building with a length of eleven meters and a width of a good seven meters and a gabled roof.

Toilet directly at the playground on the Schlierach

One disabled, four women's and three men's toilets and four urinals could be installed in it, but some of these should remain closed during everyday use.

The new facility should be right next to the playground on the Schlierach.

According to the head of the building authority, Christian Freiwang, the employees of the building yard would be able to build the system.

As Mayor Jens Zangenfeind said, under certain conditions there is the possibility of a subsidy of around 60 percent of the material costs from the government of Upper Bavaria.

According to an estimate by the Miesbach engineering firm Haager und Eham, the municipality would have to shell out around 46,500 euros for the building.

Dixi toilets were not further discussed as a permanent replacement.

Although the construction yard solution, as Zangenfeind expressly emphasized, is not primarily intended for the folk festival, it should be able to do justice to it when it is built.

Complete unisex system as an alternative

"I don't see the sense of building such a large toilet where areas remain locked 350 days a year," said Georg Eham (independent).

Tom Leidgschwendner (CSU) was also bothered by the dimensions: "A ready-to-use unisex system, such as the one we set up at the Park & Ride car park at the train station, is completely sufficient for the purpose and can be set up quickly."

Such a solution was recently presented to the municipal councils, but according to the head of the town hall and the administration, it does not meet the needs of the popular parking lot for hikers and would be significantly more expensive.

"For a slightly larger ready-made toilet with two chambers, we can quickly get up to 150,000 euros," said Zangenfeind, adding that there are currently only a few suppliers who can also deliver.

"A single toilet at the Volksfestplatz is a joke," agreed Ria Röpfl (FWG).

Willi Halletz (Greens) and Erich Kogler (FWG) also spoke out in favor of the building yard variant, but suggested slimming it down a bit.

For Michael Ertl (SPD), cleaning was a decisive factor: "The unisex system cleans itself completely.

If we build our own, someone has to clean it at least once a day.”

One vote decides on WC

He also wanted to know: "Can we really afford that the building yard does that and then perhaps has to do other work that is part of its actual tasks?" Especially since the size of the system is reduced somewhat, Harda from Poser ( Greens) convinced: "Yes, the building yard can do that." Peter Wagner (SPD) found it difficult with the proposed resolution: "The system is too big for me, and as long as that hasn't been clarified and I don't know if we can Actually getting funding is too unclear to me.”

With 10:9 votes, the decision that the building yard should build the toilet facility on the basis of the submitted plan was also very close.

Whereby, as mayor Jens Zangenfeind promised, the final size and design should not yet have the final say.
