Fatal accident in Austria: Traunsteiner crashes with a paraglider - family follows his flight

A man from the district of Traunstein died in a paragliding accident.

A man from Traunstein went paragliding in Salzburger Land on Wednesday.
However, he lost control of the parachute and fell.
St. Martin near Lofer/Traunstein – A tragic paragliding accident happened on Wednesday, April 20th, in the Salzburg region.
A 52-year-old from the district of Traunstein fell and died.
The victim's family was able to follow the accident, but not on site.
Paragliding accident in Salzburger Land: victim sent GPS data to family
It was towards the afternoon when the man from Traunstein left for his paragliding tour.
According to the Salzburg police, the man lost control of his umbrella near the Kötschmairhorn.
He fell at a height of around 1500 meters.
During his flight, he constantly transmitted his coordinates to his partner and family.
This discovered that his position was no longer changing and alerted the rescue services.
The crew of the emergency doctor helicopter “Christopherus 6” immediately set off.
Thanks to the GPS data, they were able to find the man in rough terrain, the press release continues.
When the rescue workers got to him, all they could find was that he was dead.
The police then conducted investigations.
When these were completed, the body of the 52-year-old was flown into the valley with the police helicopter "Libelle".
The investigation into the exact cause of the accident continues.
