A 24-year-old man was moderately injured today (Thursday) by a gas that exploded on the banks of the Jordan River.
The MDA team that arrived at the scene treated him and evacuated him by helicopter to Rambam Hospital in Haifa with first- and second-degree burns on all parts of his body.
"The young man was inside a vehicle while he was conscious and suffering from burns on his body," said MDA medic Shai Reikin.
"We provided him with medical treatment that included fluids and the administration of painkillers, and we evacuated him to a MDA helicopter that landed in nearby fields and evacuated him to the hospital when his condition was moderate and stable."
This is not the first case over the past week.
On Monday, five young people were lightly and moderately injured by a gas explosion in the Jordan River area.
Three of them were slightly injured and two moderately.

Hagai Levin, director of the inspection unit at the Kinneret Cities Association, said that in his work he encountered many cases of flares or gas explosions.
According to him, he learned from experience that there are safety rules that can prevent such accidents: "It is mandatory to use standard equipment. Israelis like to improvise and invent. In this case, it is strictly forbidden to use non-original and non-standard equipment.
Levin continued that he must "observe safety rules. Keep children away from the gas cylinder when lighting the fire and also during cooking. It should be remembered that this is a field condition and not a gas stove that is lit at a standard kitchen in the house. To the wind, etc. "
"Any accident can be prevented with forethought," Levin explains, "by operating a gas cylinder, driving on the road, at the entrance to the sea. During the work I have already turned off many gases that ignited and burned. This is a seemingly small and innocent object but should be taken seriously."
