Moscow, SANA- Russia announced today the expansion of the list of sanctions imposed on Western figures to include dozens of officials

Moscow-Sana

Russia announced today the expansion of the list of sanctions imposed on Western figures to include dozens of American and Canadian officials and personalities.

Russia Today website quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement today that the sanctions included about 30 US citizens, including Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris, President of Meta Corporation Mark Zuckerberg, and a number of senior leaders, businessmen, experts and journalists who serve the anti-Russian agenda, in addition to the husbands and wives of a number of senior officials.

The statement indicated that this step comes "in response to the constantly expanding US sanctions imposed by the administration of President Joe Biden on an increasing number of Russian citizens," noting that the new measure taken by Moscow is to prevent these Americans from entering Russian territory for an indefinite period.

In a related context, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that 61 Canadians, including officials and journalists, were banned from entering its territory in response to the sanctions imposed by Ottawa on Moscow due to the Russian special military operation to protect Donbass.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that people banned from entering Russia indefinitely were "directly involved in the development, support and implementation of the anti-Russian trend of the ruling regime in Canada."
