(CNN Spanish) --

It is April and just over 4 million Colombians will receive their bimonthly contributions from the Solidarity Income program, a program created during the covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

Solidarity Income beneficiaries receive 190,000 pesos each month, which will be accumulated to be paid every two months.

In other words, each household is expected to receive about 380,000 pesos (about US$100 at current exchange rates).

The beneficiaries are families with limited economic resources identified in the Sisbén databases, which classify families by "their ability to generate income and quality of life," according to the National Planning Department.

And the families that receive Solidarity Income are those that DO NOT receive other social benefits such as Families in Action, Youth in Action, that have sales tax compensation, or the program for the Protection of the Elderly, Colombia Mayor.

How do you know if you are a beneficiary of Solidarity Income?

To check if you are a beneficiary of Solidarity Income, you must register on the page of the Department of Social Prosperity on its website (ingresosolidario.prosperidadsocial.gov.co).

There a window will be displayed in which you must enter the type and number of the document, first name and last name, and date of issue of the document.

It will appear on the screen if you are a beneficiary or not.

If you benefit, if you have a savings account with a financial institution in Colombia, your money will be deposited there and the bank will notify you.

But for those who do not have an account with a bank, they will receive a text message informing them that they are beneficiaries of the program and will receive instructions to open a digital wallet from their cell phone.

You do NOT need to sign up for this program, as it depends on the State data in Sisbén.
