Everyone knew the "Factory" in Oberammergau with its unusual music, its spectacular live concerts, its unmistakable charm.

In 2005 it was razed to the ground.

Max Floßmann would like to revive the legend - in the Wetz-Stoa-Stub'n.

Unterammergau

– The high heels were exactly 52 decibels loud.

Erich Lang had it in black and white, the noise level that a woman in high heels makes when she leaves his "factory".

This value was determined by a soundproofing report.

That's right, the experts even checked shoes.

54 decibels were allowed.

So the chic shoes on the asphalt were just below the legitimate.

They were still too loud for the neighbors.

Pure noise pollution.

Like every guest who visited the cult disco in the north of Oberammergau.

Lang, whom everyone just calls "Lango", had to show strong nerves during his time as the owner of the "factory".

A total of twelve noise protection reports were drawn up between 1982 and 2005.

He had to go through 20 court hearings.

Why?

Because he turned his "factory" into one of the most popular spots in the county.

Then as now, she enjoys legendary status.

And this despite the fact that local residents were up in arms against them.

But that hardly influenced the high number of visitors, on the contrary.

The disco only came to an end in 2005, when the land owner, Deutsche Bahn, razed the building to the ground to make room for a supermarket and parking lot.

There's even the drinks from before

Max Floßmann, 36, has lived through the last few years.

To this day he is proud that he performed there with several bands.

There he celebrated "the hottest parties".

The "Factory" wasn't just a place to dance and drink.

She was a way of life.

And he now wants to revive this as the new tenant of the Wetz-Stoa-Stub'n in the neighboring town of Unterammergau.

That's why the first "Factory Revival Party" is taking place this weekend - because of the great demand on Friday and Saturday.

For days he and his employees have been working on turning the tavern into the former cult disco.

Everyone remembers the black walls with numerous creative graffiti.

"Everything is very alternative and hippie-like," says Floßmann.

He hangs a few original pictures in the Wetz-Stoa-Stub'n.

But does he stick to the color theme: black.

All walls are covered with black, meter-long stage molleton.

Everything else is done with great attention to detail.

This is how the cult drinks from that time are served.

For example the "Radiator" or the "111er Zwickl beer" from Rosenheim.

But above all the music from that time will live on.

The popular DJ Percy, the "Fabrik's" regular disc jockey, spins the discs - with CDs, of course, "really retro," he says with a grin.

Percy Langenickel from Garmisch-Partenkirchen was still a youngster when Lang opened the disco in 1982.

At the age of 18 he finally started to let the loudspeakers roar there.

He always rode his bike from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Oberammergau.

He and Schorsch Wagner were considered the dream team, the veterans of musical entertainment.

Establish concept in Unterammergau

When the DJs weren't busy, live bands took over.

Over 700 concerts took place.

Well-known artists such as Pete York from the Spencer Davis Group with his popular song "Keep on Running" and others came through the door.

"The music was very special," says Floßmann.

"Everything outside of the mainstream has been played." At the beginning, the people of Ammertal were still skeptical.

“Only 20 people came to the first concert.

The second time we had to do one two days in a row because the demand was so great,” Lang remembers.

In 1990 a smoldering fire broke out in the disco, and the rooms had to be completely renovated.

In 2005 the building fell victim to the wrecking ball.

Lang then opened “Factory Layer II” in Ohlstadt, DJ Percy continued the spirit and attitude to life a year later – until 2012, when the line was finally drawn.

Floßmann now wants to firmly establish the concept in Unterammergau and bring the “Factory” to life in a revival party two to three times a year.

FACTORY REVIVAL PARTY

The factory revival party will take place on Friday, April 22nd and Saturday, April 23rd at the Wetz-Stoa-Stub'n in Unterammergau.

It starts at 8 p.m. and admission is five euros.
