Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic confirmed that more than three-quarters of the Serbian people oppose Western sanctions imposed on Russia.
"The Serbian people frequently hear statements issued by the European Union aimed at putting pressure on Belgrade regarding its position against sanctions against Russia," Vucic was quoted as saying at a press conference today, adding that "opinion polls showed that 76 percent of Serbs reject these sanctions and this It explains to us why the popularity of the European Union is low in our country.”
The Serbian president pointed out that his country is committed to its place within the path of the European Union, but at the same time it adheres to its sovereignty and to making its own decisions.
Vucic had confirmed in previous statements that Serbia would not yield to Western demands to impose sanctions on Russia.
