Hendrik Wüst (CDU) has been Prime Minister in North Rhine-Westphalia since the end of October 2021 after Armin Laschet’s resignation.

But it is uncertain whether he will remain in the Düsseldorf State Chancellery for more than seven months.

In polls for the state elections on May 15, the CDU and SPD are close together, SPD state party leader Thomas Kutschaty could replace Wüst as head of government.

For black and yellow - the current government coalition - it is also tight: the FDP recently lost in the polls, the Greens were able to increase.

Many variants are conceivable in North Rhine-Westphalia: a grand coalition as well as a traffic light, Kenya or Jamaica alliance - or a black-green government.

There are 29 parties to choose from

The approximately 13.2 million voters in NRW can choose between 29 parties that have been allowed to vote.

28 of them answered the questions for the Wahl-O-Mat of the Federal Agency for Civic Education (BPB) and the State Agency for Civic Education North Rhine-Westphalia - only the micro-party "Democracy through referendum" did not send any answers.

You can use the generator to test which party most closely represents your political views.

Muezzin calls for Friday prayers, a mandatory kindergarten year and more powers for the police - you can position yourself on a total of 38 theses, agree with a click, reject or pass.

At the end, you can also weight answers if a topic is particularly important to you.

The Wahl-O-Mat then shows which parties are closest to your positions.

Take the test and compare your points of view with the parties' answers.
