Young man Ali Suleiman from the town of Al-Sisiniyah in the countryside of Safita in Tartous invested his passion and love for mushroom cultivation by establishing a micro-project, which is a white mushroom farm that provides job opportunities for 13 young men and women from the village and neighboring villages.
Suleiman, a 30-year-old law student at Tishreen University, stated in his interview with SANA reporter that he worked hard to search for the secrets of mushroom cultivation in reliable scientific books and websites, and began his project by cultivating the white mushroom “Agarix” five years ago and in one room, to establish this year a farm named “Al-Seef” Consisting of 8 rooms with a complete production line, a small laboratory for the production and propagation of seeds, a packaging department and the production of mushroom mixture.
Suleiman indicated that his daily production is estimated between 50 and 150 kg, depending on accuracy, care and continuous work over a period of 90 days, so that the mushrooms begin to form on the shelves and take their size, as they were able to reach a stable production that achieves a ratio of 35 kg of mushrooms per one meter.
Suleiman pointed out that there is a great demand for his products, despite the presence of some obstacles facing his project, such as the lack of some types of agricultural medicines and the permanent lack of diesel.
Suleiman concluded his speech by inviting young people to set up their own projects and go to mushroom cultivation because it is a job that secures a good source of income and meets the needs of the local market, stressing his readiness to advise and supervise those who wish to work in this field.
