The blast hit the Mawlavi Sikandar mosque in Kunduz, local police spokesman Obaidullah Abedi told AFP.

We have no details at this time on the nature of the explosion or on casualties
,” he added.

Images posted on social networks, which could not be immediately verified, showed the walls of the mosque with holes in them.
A member of the nursing staff at a nearby hospital told AFP by telephone that between 30 and 40 people had been admitted to this establishment after the explosion.

," a witness told AFP by phone.

There are many victims, between 30 to 40 people were injured or killed
,” said this witness.
This explosion comes the day after two attacks claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group in Afghanistan, which left at least 16 dead and dozens injured.
