The energy costs, which have risen sharply because of the Ukraine war, are causing problems for indoor and outdoor pools.
The operators need a lot of energy to heat the pools.
Therefore, the water temperature is lowered in many places
Germering – In the Germeringer indoor swimming pool, the water in the diving and multi-purpose pool is only 29 degrees warm, instead of the previous 30 degrees.
The water in the large swimming pool remains at the usual 27 degrees and is heated to 29 degrees on the so-called warm bathing day.
The indoor pool ends the season on June 6th.
Lowering in bad weather
The outdoor pool will start operating on Saturday, May 14th.
Here, too, attempts are being made to save energy.
In bad and rainy weather, the water in the wave pool, diving pool and children's pool is only heated to 22 degrees instead of the usual 24 degrees.
According to the Germeringer bath manager Gerd Felder, these three pools are connected to the same water cycle.
In the sports pool and in the non-swimmers' pool of the outdoor pool, the water remains unchanged at a temperature of 24 degrees.
The main source of energy for heating the Germeringer baths is gas.
In order to absorb the increased costs, admission prices have been increased by between 15 and 30 percent.
Bathing fun costs more
Bathing fun is also becoming more expensive in the Maisacher outdoor pool – by up to 15 percent.
“We will hold back when it comes to heating,” says pool manager Michael Spring.
More than 24 degrees are not possible - around one degree less than before.
After all, Maisach is not dependent on fossil fuels.
The water in the pool is heated by solar thermal energy and a heat pump.
Gas is only used for the showers.
(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular FFB newsletter.)
Because of this, and because it was found that people take a lot of showers, the town hall considered charging for the showers.
But this plan was rejected again.
Mammendorf: Everything as usual
The Mammendorf outdoor pool is heated with the help of a solar system and a district heating pipe from the nearby biogas plant.
The costs for this remain the same, as a spokesman for the district office said.
Therefore, the usual water temperatures are not adjusted.
The swimmers' pool is currently 20 degrees, the non-swimmers' pool 14 degrees.
The latter will be heated shortly in time for the opening.
The swimming pool should then have reached 23 to 24 degrees.
Problem at the moment: The cold east wind, which keeps stealing a degree or two overnight.
It is not yet clear how the Amperoase outdoor pool in Bruck will deal with rising energy costs.
"There are considerations," says a spokeswoman for the public utility company.
The heat for the water comes from a combined heat and power plant on the land.
One boiler runs on wood chips - the other three are fired with gas.
