Mexican police find a body in the area where they were looking for Debanhi Escobar

Mexican authorities in the state of Nuevo Léon reported this Thursday night that they had found a body in the area where they were looking for Debanhi Escobar Bazaldúa, the 18-year-old girl who disappeared on April 9.

The Nuevo León prosecutor's office said in a statement that they had found the body inside an abandoned water tank at the Nueva Castilla Motel, in the municipality of Escobedo.

"Actions to recover the body have been undertaken with the support of the State Civil Protection, which due to the abandonment conditions of the site, the presence of water and the depth, present technical difficulties for the field experts," the prosecution said in a statement. release.

Although they clarified that it is not yet known if the remains belong to Escobar, they said that they had already notified the relatives of this possible victim about the discovery of the body, while awaiting the results of the autopsy.

"Please wait for official news regarding these events, which will be supported by relevant scientific evidence," they added in the statement.

Escobar's family has already been notified of the discovery.

In a video published on social networks, the young woman's father can be seen desperately, who shouts and questions the authorities outside the motel:

Escobar was last seen at a party in a country house with her friends in Escobedo.

On Tuesday, several dozen women marched in the center of Mexico City demanding justice for the disappearance of young people, especially in the state of Nuevo León, where there is a wave and the authorities reported that up to eight disappearances were registered per day.
