Even before knowing the result of the second round of the presidential election, some demonstrators have already planned to take to the streets to show their disagreement with the outcome of the election.

Emmanuel Macron or Marine Le Pen, regardless of the winner, the disgruntled inhabitants of Rennes had planned to meet on Sunday evening at Place Sainte-Anne after the results.

But the prefecture decided otherwise.

According to France Bleu, this gathering organized by the "ultra-left Rennes" was banned by the prefect via a decree issued this Friday, based on the clashes which had taken place the evening of the first round, and the Saturday of the between-two-rounds.

"In view of the proven risks of public order established by the violence and degradation committed in Rennes on April 10 and 16," the prefecture will call on police personnel for the election evening, specifies the local information site.

Last Saturday in Rennes, incidents occurred during a prohibited gathering.

In the heart of the old town, on a square with several café terraces, "construction barriers were thrown at the police without causing injuries", according to the prefecture.

This rally brought together some 300 demonstrators, despite the ban announced by the prefecture because of “unacceptable violence and degradation committed by individuals from the Rennes ultra-left” on Sunday April 10, the evening of the first round.

Demonstration planned in Lyon

A demonstration also organized by the far left should also take place in Lyon, where opponents of the two finalist candidates are calling to gather at 8:45 p.m. Place Colbert, reveals Lyon Mag in order to "prove again that the social camp exists", according to leaflets quoted by the local magazine.

"The electoral roadblock is not a viable option: the political stake is in the street, in (the) universities, in the high schools, on (the) workplaces" where "the revolt is rumbling and preparing", they explain again.

Breakage is also to be expected in the city of the Rhône-Alpes region, certain leaflets distributed calling for everything to be destroyed.

Two weeks earlier, on the evening of the first round, numerous degradations had been committed and demonstrators had forced their way into the town hall of the 1st arrondissement.
