Simon Leviev, the "Tinder crook", could find himself in jail in Spain after an arrest warrant was issued against him in the country - according to a report by the British "Daily Mail".

Leviev, whose real name is Shimon Hayut, has been running a prison in Israel for some time after being arrested for using a fake passport in Greece.

Today (Friday) it was revealed that Leviev, 31, was being investigated for using a fake driver's license, after his Maserati car, worth £ 80,000, got stuck in the sand on a Spanish beach during a romantic day spent with a blonde Russian woman.

Leviev told police his name was Michael Bilton and that he is a tourist who is on vacation.According to the police, he showed them a fake driver's license with one of the fictitious names he used to use.

A police officer who specializes in identifying forged documents identified the rogue "diamond dealer" - who met with women on the Tinder dating network before fraudulently extorting millions of dollars from them - after watching the documentary series made about him on Netflix.

Police have asked a court in the southern Spanish city of Algeciras to open a criminal investigation against Leviev, after an investigation was opened earlier against the fake Bilton.

It is unclear whether the arrest warrant is global and could lead to Leviev's arrest and incarceration in Israel, and ultimately, extradition.

In February Leviev was seen leaving a restaurant in Tel Aviv after it was revealed that he lives in a 14-story luxury tower in the city.

According to recent reports, he wants to turn his infamous reputation into a Hollywood career.

Leviev denies that he deceived the women he met on Tinder and insists that he is a legitimate businessman who made his fortune from investing in Bitcoin.

His encounter with the local police in Trifa, which is also considered a paradise for surfers and not far from Costa del Sol, popular with British tourists, happened on January 30, 2019.

Police arrived at the Los Lansur Sur beach after reporting of Levant model masts stuck in the sand.

They found a blonde Russian woman in her Hermes handbag worth £ 7,500 and an Israeli wearing a Gucci shirt worth £ 370.

Police sources told the Daily Mail that the Israeli showed them a Michael Bilton driver's license after they asked him for an ID card.

Although police suspected the documents were forged, the couple was not arrested, and they returned to the city of Scholarship by taxi after giving police an address in the city.

The court questioned the man who introduced himself as Billton for forgery and transportation offenses.

The investigation was halted after court summonses were not answered.

Now it has reopened.

Police in Trifa have confirmed reports that a police officer who specializes in counterfeiting linked the man to Leviev after attending a workshop in Ibiza, where participants were advised to watch the series on Netflix.

He also contacted a Norwegian journalist who helped expose him.

Spanish police have not said whether the Russian woman whom Leviev tried to impress in a carnage on the day his car got stuck in the sand is Polina Chernkova, with whom he is reportedly seeing.

A court official in Algeciras confirmed: "An arrest warrant has been issued for a person who is under investigation. That is all the information I can provide at this stage."
