The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights called for an immediate and independent investigation into the violations of the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinians in Al-Aqsa Mosque.
“An immediate, impartial, independent and transparent investigation must be conducted into the Israeli police violence that resulted in the injury of worshipers at Al-Aqsa Mosque, and those responsible for the violence must be held accountable,” the United Nations website quoted the spokeswoman for the United Nations Human Rights Office, Ravina Shamdasani, as saying today at a press conference in Geneva.
Shamdasani called for "holding those responsible for any violations accountable and reviewing policies and procedures related to the use of force with a view to avoiding any further violations."
Shamdasani indicated that the Israeli forces’ attacks on Palestinians in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque during the period from 15 to 17 of this month “resulted in the injury of 180 people, including 27 children,” noting that the occupation forces arrested during the mentioned period “about 470 Palestinians, including 60 children.”
Dozens of Palestinians were injured as the Israeli occupation forces stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque for the second time today, and attacked worshipers and those stationed there.
