Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the United States is seeking to make a settlement between Moscow and Kiev impossible, indicating that Washington is directly involved in misinformation about the situation in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol.
"The US State Department is directly involved in misinformation and does not care about the fate of people in Azovstal, as they do not want peace in Ukraine," Zakharova said in an interview with Russia 24 TV channel today, noting that the Ukrainian armed forces are doing everything possible to keep civilians detained in Azovstal in the continuation of "the tactics of Human shields.
She stressed that "there is evidence that there are people in Azovstal who are not connected to the Ukrainian forces," stressing that "the road from this industrial zone is open to those who want to leave."
Zakharova mocked the United States' description of the Russian Defense Ministry's report on the Mariupol liberation as "disinformation and propaganda," saying that "the US State Department knows a lot about propaganda parades based on what is happening in the White House."
On the 16th of this month, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the liberation of the entire residential area in Mariupol from Ukrainian forces.
