The project, according to the 43-year-old engineer, Fatina, came with the aim of achieving an additional source of income for her and spreading the culture of thyme cultivation by benefiting from her experience in cultivating medicinal and aromatic plants, as they are commensurate with the environment and climate of the governorate.

Engineer Fatna explained to SANA reporter how she benefited from a plot of undeveloped land next to her father’s house on an area of ​​500 square metres. She reclaimed and prepared it and built a water tank with a drip irrigation network, after obtaining quantities of seeds from reliable sources, which she multiplied in her home garden and produced seedlings from them, which she transferred and planted within the project that It was launched in the summer of last year.

Fatina explained that her project came with funding from her two expatriate sisters, at a cost of about 4 million Syrian pounds, and with the support and encouragement of her husband. 15 and 16 thousand pounds.

The engineer stated that she focuses on organic composting with the aim of obtaining clean production, as she manufactures compost by making use of dry and green plant residues, explaining that thyme cultivation requires attention to the beginning of the cultivation process in terms of irrigation as well as continuous weed removal later on, but it does not need large agricultural services The plant is resistant to diseases and insects.

Fatina, who called her project “The Perfume of the Earth” as a sign of her love for the land and working with it, showed how, in the first year of her project, she voluntarily distributed 1000 seedlings, then sold 1,400 seedlings for one of the initiatives. Cultivation of thyme.

The engineer, who currently sells the thyme plant, whether green or dry, aspires to expand her project during the coming period by adding new medicinal and aromatic plants to it, continuing the issue of clean agriculture, applying the principles of sustainable development and manufacturing mixtures of thyme if the necessary funding is available to purchase the necessary tools.

According to the engineer, Fatna, who markets her production, working on her project does not conflict with the practice of her job in the Directorate of Agriculture and her interest in raising her daughters who excel in school.
