Also in 2022 there will be nothing with the popular crowd puller.

The organizers withdraw.

Dorfen – The Dorfen auto show is making the next crash landing: In 2020 and 2021, the organizers got in the way of the corona pandemic, now it’s the car dealers who have delivery problems.

That's why there will be no car show this year either.

With a heavy heart, Josef Jung and his daughter Sabrina have now canceled the Dorfen Motor Show (DAA).

"We calculated and calculated - but the bottom line was that the event would have been a loss for everyone," explains Josef Jung his decision.

And his daughter Sabrina adds: “We had already finished planning the parking space.

According to feedback from a number of dealers, there are currently no cars for an exhibition, and it is also not foreseeable whether the situation will change in the short time until the car show.

In the last few days we have received further cancellations.” After all, it would not do justice to the visitors of the show if mainly slow-moving vehicles were to be seen instead of new cars with modern technology or e-cars.

Or the exhibitors and last but not least the ESC Dorfen, the organizer of the DAA.

Organizers disappointed but offer support to successors

Josef Jung had revived the long tradition of the ice hockey club's automobile show since 2012.

"Then my daughter got on board, and now a small exhibition in the ice rink has become a big event - the 8th Dorfen Motor Show took place for the first time on the Meindl site in 2019," he says.

After the success of 2019, the bar is set high for the organizers.

"We don't want to make any half-hearted compromises," says Josef Jung.

The Dorfen insurance broker and city councilor remembers the DAA three years ago: “More than 40 exhibitors, mostly car dealers, presented themselves with a good 400 automobiles and motorcycles on the spacious eastern part of the former brick factory.

A number of trucks as well as construction and commercial vehicles were also on display.

In addition, there was a varied supporting program as well as the gastronomy in the Tonwerk, which offered all kinds of delicacies and street food.

"It was almost a real trade fair." Well over 10,000 visitors strolled through the grounds.

The Auto-Expo should have taken place on the Tonwerk site again this year.

However, on May 26th, Father's Day.

"Some of the exhibitors didn't like that," says Josef Jung.

“In your opinion, we should have postponed the show until the fall.

That annoyed me a bit – we can only organize an exhibition if we have a suitable place.

The date was set.

And no one knows how Corona will continue.

Added to this are the delivery difficulties caused by the pandemic and war in Ukraine.

And the many cancellations from dealers.”

Car show for mayor a "crowd magnet" that breaks away

The team, which has put a lot of time into the organization, now says hello.

"We can't calculate that in hours.

We did a lot in the evenings or at the weekend, all privately.

We did it happily and on a voluntary basis because the ESC is important to us," says Sabrina Jung.

Now it's over: "We very much regret the cancellation, in this context we also say goodbye as organizers.

Of course we will support a successor so that the event does not disappear.”

The cancellation also affected Mayor Heinz Grundner.

She was "very regrettable".

“The Dorfen Auto Show is a crowd puller, far beyond the city limits.

It also shows the excellent performance of our automotive trade.” Grundner hopes that Sabrina and Josef Jung will perhaps change their minds in the coming year.

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Erding newsletter.
