A man from Hamburg is said to have caused a fatal accident on the B 203 due to microsleep.

The result: a father died in front of his children.

Early on Saturday morning, April 23, 2022, there was a tragedy on federal highway 203 near Losse (Schleswig-Holstein).

At around 6:25 a.m., a Toyota occupied by the father (43), mother (43) and their three children (14, 5 and 2) got into a serious accident through no fault of their own.

The 32-year-old Land Rover driver, who hails from Hamburg, lost control of his vehicle, allegedly due to a microsleep, police said.

Due to the serious collision, both vehicles, the Land Rover and the Toyota, threw themselves into a side ditch on the main road.

Rescue workers from the fire brigade had to break open the vehicles with heavy hydraulic equipment and free the occupants.

The alleged accident attempt (32) was injured in a hospital in Schleswig.

The wife and the three children from the Toyota came together to a hospital in Kiel.

The 43-year-old father died at the scene of the accident.

The federal road 203 was completely closed at the accident site from 6:30 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.

An expert will now support the police in further investigations.
