After two years of respite due to corona restrictions, the country is celebrating the Feast of Maimonides tonight (Saturday).

At the Peretz family home in Sderot, preparations for the holiday began a week ago, and it is said that this year they mark the date with a sign of unity among the people.

"The holiday symbolizes great joy and unity in all the people, without distinguishing between testimonies - everyone is invited," said Samadi Peretz, who invited the city's residents to her home.

Maya Gozlan, a resident of Sderot who also celebrates the financing, said that "it is a holiday of blossoming, renewal, and unity."

The celebrations take place against the backdrop of security tensions in the south, but the celebrants say they are not afraid.

"We will continue to celebrate despite all the rockets and alarms," Gozlan said.

Tami Cohen came from Tirat Carmel to finance it in Sderot.

"We were a little apprehensive but we must move forward. They cannot beat us. It is a holiday of joy. We came to Sderot to rejoice."

She added.

"Despite last week, we are not afraid. No one will disable our joy. The people of Israel have always lived."
