The technical elements of the Prevention Department of the Hama Agriculture Directorate conducted extensive tours of the fields planted with wheat, in the lands under the supervision of the work of the Directorate.

The head of the Plant Protection Department, Eng. Rasha Al-Ali, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the aim of the tours is to see the wheat crop and its technical condition, and to know the diseases that afflicted it to work on treating it in a way that guarantees abundant production, noting that the general condition of the crop in the irrigated lands varies between acceptable and good, according to The nature of the land and the service provided to it.

Al-Ali added, “The situation for the rainfed fields is not good because they suffer from severe thirst, drought, poor growth, and short ears that have begun to show signs of early maturity as a result of water stress,” noting that with regard to insect and disease infections, the presence of sunn mothers has been observed in some fields, but they are below the economic threshold. We found some cases of rust disease and they were immediately treated with pesticides designated for this disease.

The area of ​​land planted with wheat in the field of work of the Hama Agriculture Directorate for the current season is 20,881 hectares of irrigated and 22,309 hectares of rainfed.
