Renew your identity card

To renew your identity card, it is strongly recommended to complete an online pre-application on the website of the National Agency for Secure Documents (ANTS).

Then, to finalize the request, you will have to make an appointment at the town hall.

Before going there, you will need to bring a certain number of documents:

  • a tax stamp in the amount of 25 euros (only in the event of loss or theft)

  • if the identity card has been expired for more than 5 years, lost or stolen: a valid passport or expired for less than 5 years and if you do not have one, a birth certificate of less than 3 months

If you are in possession of all these supporting documents, the meeting should last about fifteen minutes.

Except since last August, where this

"average has also increased to 24 days"

, according to the ANTS.
