This weekend, literature enthusiasts will no longer know where to turn.

In addition to the rich program of the Paris Book Festival at the ephemeral Grand Palais (and outside the walls), the day of April 23 will also be an opportunity for all visitors to bookstores participating in the San Jordi-Festival of the independent bookstore to be offered a rose and a book entitled

We keep ten for literature!

, in which 50 famous French authors present the ten books that have marked their lives.

From Maylis de Kerangal to Nancy Huston via Santiago Amigorena, Agnès Desarthe or even Mohamed Mbougar Sarr, the Goncourt 2021,

We keep ten for literature!

is an opportunity to discover and rediscover titles from the French and international literary heritage, to arouse curiosity and... to create new desires!

The initiative for this event owes a lot to the energetic Marie-Rose Guarniéri, founder of the Librairie des Abbesses, in Montmartre, and director of the Verbes association, which organizes this festival supported by many partners, including the Syndicat de la French bookshop, the Center national du livre, Sofia (at the service of authors and publishers) and publishing houses.

Institutions from Belgium, Luxembourg and French-speaking Switzerland will also be in attendance.

For twenty-four years in April, independent booksellers throughout France (but also in Belgium and Switzerland) have tirelessly come together for World Book and Copyright Day.

“Today, it seems crucial to us to bring you closer to this incandescent forge: the readings of the authors.

Those who feed them, stimulate them, ignite them… The book has become this cultural capital of which we are so rich and which we have conquered relentlessly”,

say the organizers.
