The obligation to wear protective masks indoors will be abolished starting tonight (Saturday), Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz concluded last week.

The directive will take effect starting on Saturday at 20:00.

Bennett and Horowitz agreed that the duty would be abolished, except in places with high contagion potential: hospitals, nursing homes, flights, and a person on his way to isolation.

A month ago, against the background of a moderate increase in morbidity in the caravan in Israel, Prime Minister Bennett and Minister Horowitz held a discussion with senior Ministry of Health officials in which it was decided that the obligation to wear masks in closed spaces would be reconsidered ahead of Passover.

In June last year, the obligation to wear masks in closed spaces was already abolished, during the tenure of Yuli Edelstein as Minister of Health, but it was returned with subsequent waves of illness.
