The end was hard, but the new beginning is really good!

After the departure of Charly Hübner, alias Sascha Bukow, from the Rostock "Polizeiruf 110", which was (rightly!) greatly mourned by millions of viewers, Anneke Kim Sarnau is now investigating as Katrin König with a new colleague: Melly Böwe.

Melly Böwe is Bukow's half sister and is played by Lina Beckmann, Charly Hübner's wife.

In an interview with our newspaper, Sarnau (50) and Beckmann (41) talk about this crazy constellation, their first case "You can't choose your family" (Sunday, April 24, 2022, 8:15 p.m., ARD), work among women and Bukow's shadow.

Ms. Sarnau, who misses whom more - Katrin König for Sascha Bukow or Anneke Kim Sarnau for Charly Hübner?

Anneke Kim Sarnau:

(Laughs.)

As Anneke, I'm lucky to have Lina Beckmann at my side who is also very close to Charly.

So somehow he's still there.

Katrin König, on the other hand, misses Bukow a lot.

So very!

It was a great love.

You have to digest that first when she runs away like that.

However!

The fans really screamed when Bukow left.

Can you understand this violent reaction?

Sarnau:

I can understand that, yes.

I used to be a big Schimanski fan, I also thought Thanner and Hänschen were great.

When they stopped, I also said: Oh man!

What is this now?

With regard to Charly, we also saw the "protest" as confirmation of our work.

We as a team were liked.

How did that go for you, Ms. Beckmann?

Lina Beckmann:

I really liked this couple and this whole team.

You have created something very beautiful and lasting there, Anneke.

And of course I noticed how attentive the spectators were, how hurt this exit was observed.

You have a responsibility as an actor, and that was tough for Charly.

I accompanied his departure more from the perspective of his wife than as a colleague.

When it became clear that Charly Hübner was getting out - did you, Ms. Sarnau, also think about saying goodbye to the "police call"?

Sarnau:

short.

Going on without him seemed wrong to me, the films stood and fell with both of us.

On the other hand, I found that the character Katrin König was not fully told.

And thank God the people in charge thought so too.

And that Charly Hübner's wife of all people is now your new partner...

Sarnau:

Is that crazy?!

Great!

I've seen Lina on stage and I think she's gigantic.

Or in the film "Do you sometimes feel burned out and empty?" - that's so great, so weird and so unique.

I really can't think of anything I like better than continuing the "police call" with her.

It's so much fun with this wild woman.

Did you agree straight away, Ms. Beckmann?

They are not known for playing in rows or series.

Beckman:

Yes, that's right.

But the more I've shot over the past few years, the more often I thought: It's a shame that I only have it for three or four days.

(laughs)

I'd like to learn more about filming.

And with the "police call" I've now challenged myself a bit.

For me, this is like exploring the profession even further.

What's still slumbering in there.

That excites me.

How does the "police call" change now that two wild women are at the helm?

Beckmann:

It was particularly important to me to counteract the crime novels from Rostock with something completely new.

The opposite of Bukow, so to speak.

So we wanted to create a character that was very bright and light and that also approached people that way.

And Melly Böwe is someone like that.

She looks at you openly, looks for conversations and this also changes something in the team.

Apart from that, of course, there is no longer a love relationship in play.

(Laughs.)

Sarnau:

That's right.

(Laughs.)

The two of us really wanted to play women who didn't (!) bitch each other.

No bitch story, no competition.

Because: We women are not like that in real life either.

By our age at the latest, one has grasped the fact that it is much nicer and more pleasant to be in solidarity with one another.

And loving.

And facing.

So much beauty can come from this.

That doesn't mean that Katrin König and Melly Böwe don't sometimes clash or are alienated from each other.

In real life, we women don't dance in a circle all day and bake cakes.

At first König is anything but enthusiastic that Melly Böwe is coming.

Sarnau:

She's really turned off that someone is coming at all, that it's also a relative of Bukow's and that this idiot still slaps her in the heart in this way.

Well, but then the two get closer – and that leaves a lot of room for more.

Do women work together differently than men?

Beckmann:

Yes, I think so.

I notice myself that I behave completely differently when there are only women in the room than when there are also men.

Not stupid at all, just different.

Sarnau:

That always depends on the guy who's in the room, doesn't it?

If it has even the slightest hint of an erotic component and one of the women, say, wants to dock, then it gets difficult at times.

But I think the older you get, the more relaxed it becomes in this respect.

So at least I hope so.

(Laughs.)

And Bukov?

What role will he play in the films in the future – as a shadow?

Beckmann:

He stays simply because Melly Böwe is his half-sister.

And I think that's important: that this idea, this bond, doesn't disappear, otherwise the constellation would be superfluous.

The two women are connected by a person who both love madly, but who is gone.

Maybe we'll find a way for Melly to remind Ms. König of Bukow from time to time, so that she thinks: Oh, Bukow does the same thing.

A gesture, something small, something like that.

I really like that.
