Hundreds of people attended the funeral of Eran Yankovich, 51, from Kiryat Motzkin, who was killed on Thursday by a car while going out with the family dog to the garden near their home.
The funeral was held in the Tel Regev cemetery on the eve of the second Passover holiday, a few hours after the horrific accident.
Jankovic was buried next to his wife Orly, who died of cancer three years ago.
The two left behind three orphans - Libby, 10, Eli, 16, and Rotem, 21.
His sister, Dikla Hazan, said he was a "reservist, a respected officer, a man with a huge smile. "He just got into it. It had to be a routine trip and it ended in disaster."
She added that a lot of people came to the funeral, from all over the country, who were touched by the story.
"Tragedy after tragedy. It has not been caught yet," she said.
"We heard the boom and scream of a woman who was in the garden. I peeked out and saw Eran's car parked in front of the window. I felt something had happened I just did not know the magnitude of the disaster. I started screaming. My husband went down and I followed him and there was nothing to do anymore. It was so fast." .

Jankovic's wife gave birth to Libby, their little house, and later found out she had cancer.
"She was a warrior and fought secretly most of the time without the children knowing. They were an opinionated, wise and enlightened couple. We did not recover from one tragedy and another tragedy befell us," she noted.
The vehicle that deviated from the road overturned after hitting another vehicle on Jerusalem Boulevard in the city.
He broke through the dog garden fence and there hit Binkovich, who was sitting on the bench at the time with his dog Ricky.
An MDA team that was called to the scene determined his death and evacuated to the Rambam Hospital in Haifa the mother of the driver of the vehicle, a woman in her 50s, when she was in fair condition.
The driver of the vehicle was slightly injured and treated on the spot by the medical staff.
Neighbors who arrived at the scene picked up the dog and returned it to Jankovic's family and police began investigating the circumstances of the accident.

MDA paramedic Alexander Greenbaum and a senior MDA paramedic, Samih 'Abd al-Qader, who were called to the scene, said it was a serious car accident.
"The wounded man was lying in the garden unconscious and suffering from a very severe multi-system injury. We performed resuscitation operations on him but the injury was critical and in the end we had to determine his death," they said.
They further described that a woman was trapped in the offending vehicle, which was overturned on its side and after rescue operations she was evacuated to the hospital in fair condition.
